Guest speaker for Sept 11 troop meeting
For our troop meeting this Tuesday, Sept 11, we will have a guest speaker, Mr. Isaac Hoopii. Isaac is a McLean resident, and you will see him coaching and supporting youth sports in the area. But he also is a lifesaver. He
was honored for his actions on Sept 11, 2001, as shown in the biography below.
Sergeant Isaac Ho'opi'i
U.S. Pentagon Police Canine Officer & Hero
Mr. Isaac Ho'opi'i is a Sergeant for the U.S. Pentagon Police, who serves as a Canine Bomb Unit Trainer supervisor. On September 11, 2001, Sgt. Ho'opi'i saved the lives of many (total of 18) Pentagon victims after the attack onthe Pentagon. He used his voice by calling out to victims and letting them know there was someone to help. He risked his own life to save others. Mr. Ho'opi'i was awarded the Medal of valor, the highest civilian award.Isaac was one of the Pentagon heroes asked to carry the 2002 Olympic Torch. He carried the Torch through the Law Enforcement Memorial, Washington, D.C. Isaac competed in the K-9 Olympic in May 2002 in Muncie. Indiana, with his second K-9 partner "Marko." He is currently working with his third K-9 named" Lava" who is a short haired German Sherpard from Holland.Mr. Ho'opi'i has been recognized across the nation for his bravery and service to others. He has been featured on Top Cops, the Today Show, CNN, and such print media as USA Today, U. S. News & World Report, the WashingtonPost, and Honolulu Star Bulletin. Mr. Ho'opi'i has been asked to speak throughout the U.S. about his experiences on 9/11/01. Hawaii's former Governor Ben Cayatano and Governor Lingle declared a Proclamation on November 28, 2001, and August 1, 2003 naming it "Isaac Ho'opi'i Day." Isaac Hoopii while on his spare time he plays music with his Hawaiian Band "The Alohaboys" and for the past 10 years has been coaching High school Football; Basketball for the Mclean Highlander's to include several Fast Pitch softball travel teams. Mr. Ho'opi'i is a native of Hawaii.Awards: 2011- will be in the American History Smithsonian display of 9/11, 2007 & 2004, Winner, World Music - Vocalist of the year, Washington Area Music Association with his Hawaiian Band "The Alohaboys"; 2003, "IsaacHoopii Day - August 1st," Governor of the State of Hawaii; 2003, J.
