We went to the Klondike Derby. It is an annual event @ Camp Highroads, Aldie, VA. I had a great time. This year I worked at Dawson City with Will as a city staff. The idea with Klondike is that participating troops join the race with two sleds. Sleds have various scout tools to complete various assignments / tasks at each city to earn points. It takes 6-7 hrs to complete challenges at each station or city, and the team with most points wins the event. If you are a staff member you greet each sled team and supervise their activity (ie. start fire).
At Dawson city I managed the fire to keep us warm. I met many new people. We also camped over-night (it snowed 4 times). I had a great time, and all new scouts should definitely do this event several times (this was my 3rd time).
