On the 18th of July, we went to Rodney, including all Brownsea scouts. A Brownsea is the name given to all first year scouts at Rodney. Unlike older scouts who setup their own schedule, Brownsea's have a planned out schedule. This year we had about 10 Brownseas.
There were some merit badges that were offered this year only. They are:
Signaller MB
Tracking MB
Carpentry MB
Those are the merit badges that were offered only this year. I got Carpentry.
I got 4 merit badges this year. They were:
LifeSaving
Carpentry*
Wood Carving
First Aid
Every day, a food truck came and brought us food. Three scouts served the food. The quietest table got their food first.
On the first day of camp, we took the BSA swim test. The lifeguards determine which group you are in, Swimmer, Begginner or non swimmer. I was a swimmer.
At the pool, they were doing the mile swim at 6:45 am in the morning on Thursday. I did the mile swim and I finished second out of about 50 people. Sam finished first. If you finish the full mile, you get a patch.
It was a great week.
